Facelift (Rhytidectomy)

The effects of aging, stress and the environment on the appearance of the face is often disconcerting to patients. Sun exposure leads to unwanted creases around the mouth and eyes. Aging causes the skin to become loose and redundant around the jaw line and the neck, and the fat around the cheeks can start to weaken and descend. Facelifts offer a comprehensive approach to reverse these changes. By rebuilding the foundation of the face (muscle and fat) and removing excess skin, these unwanted changes are diminished. The incisions for these procedures are inconspicuous and hidden within the ears and hairline. As most patients are candidates for shorter incision, minimally invasive facelifts, the recovery time can be as short as 10 to 14 days. By further combining these procedures with laser treatments to the facial skin during the time of the procedure, an amazing transformation can occur.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

One of the first signs of aging occurs around the eyes. Often, this starts in the 30s and progresses slowly over time. Patients regularly complain about having too much skin around the eyelids and an appearance of puffiness that is usually due to excessive fat in those areas. A blepharoplasty can rejuvenate the eyes and in some cases, the fat that is removed can be placed along the creases of the eyes to further reduce an aged appearance. A blepharoplasty can be completed as an in office procedure or combined with other procedures like a face lift, brow lift or body procedures. There is a short recovery time and the incisions are hidden within the skin creases of the eyes and are not visible.

Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)

As the nose presides in the midline of the face, any external abnormality is noticeable. A desirable nasal appearance is associated with certain key characteristics, like a well-defined nasal. Problems with the appearance of the nose derive from either inherited physical traits or from a history of injury to that area. Short and hidden incisions are utilized to remove these external abnormalities and improve the appearance of the structures like the nasal tip. Rhinoplasty procedures include:

  • Narrowing of the nasal bridge
  • Hump reduction
  • Narrowing of the width of the nostril
  • Straightening the nose
  • Refining the nasal tip
  • Changing the angle between the nose and the mouth
  • Correction of a nasal septum deviation to improve nasal breathing

Forehead Lift (Browlifts)

A notable descent of the eye brows is very disconcerting to patients. It often gives the appearance of being angry or tired and further affects the appearance of the upper eyelids and the area of skin between the eyebrows (the glabella). Using 3 to 5 short incisions in the hairline and with video assistance (endoscopic), the position of the eyebrow can be improved, giving it a youthful and natural arch. Browlifts are often combined with other procedures like facelifts or eyelid procedures. In some cases, the muscles that cause wrinkles between the eyebrows can also be removed and alleviate the need for botox injections in that area.

Ear surgery

Prominent ears can have a distressing effect on patient’s self confidence, particularly in children. This prominence is commonly due to the angle of the ear to the hair barring scalp and to the disrupted development of cartilage in the ear (the antihelix). By utilizing small incisions behind the ear, the shape, size and angle of the ear can be immensely improved. This procedure is often recommended for children near the beginning of the school years (5 to 6 years old), in hopes of avoiding the inherent psychological affects that result from taunting and teasing. For adults, ear surgery can be combined with other procedures like facelifts and chin implants.

Chin implants

In evaluating facial appearances, having desirable proportions between the upper and lower face are a key contributor to achieving facial balance. Often, a patient may have an underdeveloped chin that requires improvement. Chin implants offer a very direct means of improving chin definition and projection, in a minimally invasive fashion. Using a short incision underneath the chin, an implant is placed and situated accordingly. Placement of a chin implant is often combined with a facelift or nose surgery to improve the facial proportions.
